“I will not enter Umm Al-Fahm with the protection of an Israeli court”
After Tamer Naffars’s show in Umm Al-Fahm was sold out a month before the show’s date that was supposed to be on the 22nd of August 2019, The municipality published its cancellation.
The Mayor of Umm Al-Fahm posted on the municipality’s Facebook page that Naffar’s is not appropriate to the morals of the city, not appropriate educationally & religiously.
A group of young people from the city decided to protest against the cancelation and took the mayor to court asking him to accept the show, and the court accepted their request, making the mayor undo his decision and delete the post from Facebook.
On the same afternoon of the court’s decision, the mayor met with Tamer and the youth who applied to the court, and they decided to delay the show for a bit releasing common statement.
After the meeting, Tamer said:” I will enter Umm Al-Fahm as one of its sons, and not by the protection of an Israeli court or the Israeli police, I thank everyone who stood and fought for the right of art, right of speech and the right of the youth in Umm Al-Fahm to watch my show or any other art show. I hope that this is the last time that a show will be canceled in Umm Al-Fahm And in other places”.
